Every year in November, our inbox is flooded with “Biggest deal ever”, “Last chance”, “50% off today only.” It’s the same drumbeat that tells us to buy things we don’t need, wrapped in plastic we definitely don’t need, and shipped at a pace the planet can’t keep up with.
So this year, we’re putting Black Friday in the bin.
Why we’re stepping back
Black Friday sounds like a bargain, but the impact is anything but:
-
It fuels overconsumption. Most of what’s bought is impulse-driven. A lot of it ends up unused, returned or even binned.
-
Returns are a silent environmental disaster. Many returned products can’t be resold, so they go straight to landfill.
-
Plastic waste skyrockets. From packaging to cheap throwaway products, Black Friday is a microplastics party no one wants an invite to.
-
More demand, less quality. The pressure to churn out discounts encourages lower-quality, short-lived products, the opposite of what we and the planet needs.
And as a brand built to reduce waste, it just doesn’t make sense to join the stampede.
So what are we doing instead?
We’re choosing to offer you a little something that's fully compostable, made from plants, and microplastic free - a good choice for you and the environment.

If you are shopping for more this weekend…
Buy less, choose better. Turn that spending into something meaningful.
Whether it’s us or any brand genuinely committed to quality and sustainability, picking something that lasts is one of the simplest ways to vote with your wallet.
Black Friday isn’t going anywhere, but we can change how we approach it. Less pressure, more intentionality, and products that actually deserve a place in your home.
We’re opting out of the big price slashes. Not because we’re anti-joy, but because we’re pro-planet, and anti-overconsumption. And honestly? That feels like the better deal.
