Products FAQs

Our sponges are made from cellulose with a loofah scourer on top.

Seep cloths are made from plant fibres (viscose).

Yes - you can wash cloths at 30 or 40 degrees and they come out lovely and white again. We have also put the sponges into the washing machine too but the loofah scourer will eventually get softer and will start breaking down. Other customers have also said that they have put them in the dishwasher on the top shelf.

A loofah (or sometimes spelt luffa) is a genus of tropical and subtropical vines in the cucumber family.

The loofah is the cucumber bit which when ripe is very fibrous. It’s then harvested and the fibres are used to make cloth or sections are cut to create loofah sponges that people use in the shower.

The process of manufacturing cellulose sponges begins with large stiff sheets of cellulose which comes from wood pulp.

The cloths will last several months and the ones we originally tested in mid 2020 are still going strong after many washes. The sponges last at least one month and will last longer if you take care of them, letting them dry out and giving the occasional wash in the washing machine. Since these products are compostable, they will eventually start breaking down over time after many washes. If you find your products are not up to these standards we have a 30-day money-back guarantee which you can find in our Returns section

Yes. None of our products were tested on animals or use animal products in their manufacturing.

Our compostable bin liners are made from a raw material called Mater-Bi® by a company based in the UK with a factory in Belgium.

Mater-Bi® is a family of plant-based plastics (known as bio-polymers) and manufactured by world-renowned experts at Novamont Spa in Italy. These plant-based plastics are made using cornstarch and plant oils derived from non-GMO EU grown maize. No palm or soya products, virgin soil or deforestation is involved in any step of the way.

Yes. All of our products are made from renewable material sources. Our packaging is from FSC sources. Unfortunately there is no standard industry accreditation for sustainable loofah so we are working across our supply chain to verify our sources.
